Gurnard SC provides training to club members from complete. Fre Killian and Thomas raced in the strong Pro Fleet. This can be seen below.

Summer memberships are available, making sailing and watersports extremely popular pastimes at Gurnard beach. Jetskiing, surfing and windsurfing are all available here.


Several of the local regulars were unable to attend (four being professional sailors away on duty, others being in Europe or pregnant or both and having NHS operations – poor excuses really!) nevertheless local Shadow sailors entered plus Graham from Eastbourne helped out and Bjorn. It is a wonderful place from which to watch the beautiful sunsets over the Solent.


Competitors were treated to champagne sailing conditions, which allowed the race officer to set challenging courses across the western Solent for the six classes. A footpath leads you onto a cliff walk west into Thorness Bay, and is part of the coastal path around the island.


Unfortunately the Visitor Moorings remain closed. The tides are strong. With Shadows in the dinghy park, Gurnard offers the best Shadow racing in the country.


Club Commodore Caroline Stevens commente ” We knew the other club finalists were very strong competition so everyone is delighted and very surprised to have won. We are specialists in RS Sailing Dinghies and Catamarans.

You would struggle to compete with the views available from the premises that are enhanced considerably by the close proximity of the village green, which rolls away to the East from the Restaurant doors. A short walk in one direction takes you to Gurnard sailing club, childrens playground and the Waterside café in the other direction is the Little Gloster restaurant and fabulous walks along the coast line towards Thorness Bay.

We offer a great dinghy sailing location, in sheltered water, close to Southampton. Sanders Sails have a seperate department dedicated for repairing sails, headed by our Service Manager, Frank Coster.

THIS CHARMING COTTAGE is located in a quiet road in the rural village of Gurnard, just a few minutes walk to the sea, local Sailing Club, excellent primary school, convenience store and popular eateries. Sitting on a good sized plot, the home offers excellent potential to extend in the future - subject to the usual planning permissions.


Haversham Sailing Club will be following the advice issued by the Government and the RYA. We will be conservative and considerate in our activities and we hope this will keep everyone safe and well, but allow us all to appreciate a gradual return to normality when we can.
