This course runs from September to June, full-time in Light Vehicle Diagnostic and fault rectification, for hours a week. It is taught weekdays at our Abbey Park campus and will cover all Light Vehicle Technologies at an advanced level including in-depth practical. It contains the skills and knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle ’s high and low voltage electrical system and electric drivetrain system, whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance.


The NVQs allow you to prove that you have the skills to maintain and repair vehicles - from mechanical and electrical work, re-sprays, bodywork and tyre fitting, to getting stranded motorists back on the road again. The courses have an emphasis placed on practical skill development in our well-equipped Motor Vehicle Workshop and are designed to engage and motivate learners who are interested in learning about the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and the various roles that are available in the retail motor industry.


This course provides personnel with the necessary skills to perform mechanical maintenance, including the removal and replacement of equipment (pumps, gearboxes, motors and power transmission systems) and identification and rectification of bearing faults within these systems. This course focuses on the practical knowledge and tasks needed to do maintenance on your car or truck. Our courses combine theory with practical hands-on learning giving you the skills you need to get your career moving.

Basic Car Maintenance Using our state-of-the-art facilities, you will learn a range of technical and practical skills supported by our specialist Motor Vehicle staff.


The course is ideal for those with a keen interest in becoming more self-sufficient in the basic elements of maintaining and servicing their own vehicle. The course also covers the procedures of maintenance of late model cars, checking oil, changing tires, customer car servicing, and design. Finally, you will understand the business policies and strategies of the industry.

Learn to service and repair light vehicles, replace components, solve complex faults, use diagnostic methods and equipment, as well as a whole array of other skills.
